Never miss a critical severe weather warning again!
Frequently asked questions about WNEP-TV's E-Warn:
Can I sign up using any pager or cellular phone? You must have a pager or phone
capable of receiving and displaying text messages.
I am getting multiple warnings. Why? If you sign up for multiple counties, then
you might get multiple messages when a warning is issued for two counties or more. Sign up
for only one county, and you will get only one warning.
What types of messages are sent via E-Warn? Warnings for tornadoes, severe
thunderstorms, flash floods, and river floods. In addition, WNEP-TV may send a breaking
news bulliten. These will not be sent often, only for really big stories. You may get at
most 1 or 2 per year.
Where does the E-Warn information come from? The National Weather Service. They
issue the weather warnings.
I signed up, but did not get a confirmation and I do not get E-Warn messages. What
happened? Each day, our log shows many error messages from people that input wrong
e-mail addresses. Be extremely careful when you enter an address. And, do not enter just
your cell phone number. It won't work. You must enter the e-mail address for your pager or
phone. For help, see our page with information for wireless
providers.
I tried to unsubscribe, but I am still getting E-Warn messages. Help! You must
unsubscribe to each county you are signed up for individually. If you need to see a list
of counties you are signed up for, visit our REVIEW page.
I signed up for several counties. I'm not getting all the warnings on my pager. Some
pager companies limit the number of e-mail-type pages you can receive in a given amount of
time. Because of this limit, you may not be able to get all the messages you signed up
for. To confirm which counties you are signed up for, visit our REVIEW
page.
I would like to speak with a human being with questions about E-Warn. Is this
possible? Yes! Call The Weather Company at 1-800-272-2511, or send an e-mail message
to Bill Hardekopf at The Weather Company,
or Mark Sowers at WNEP-TV.
