The Electronic Graphics department is responsible for a lot of what you see on WNEP-TV 16 The News Station, although you may not even realize it. The WNEP-TV 16 logo, the opening video you see at the start of each newscast, the backgrounds behind the Anchors, the orange “lower-thirds”, and much, much more were created by artists working on computers here at WNEP-TV 16 The News Station. In fact, almost every part of a Newswatch 16 newscast is enhanced in some way by the work of these professional graphic artists. The artists here at WNEP-TV 16 The News Station are so talented, and so respected by people who work in television, that they are often asked to make graphics for several other New York Times-owned television stations.

The computers our Graphics Artists use are Unix based Silicon Graphics Indigo boxes running several different graphics programs. You may know Silicon Graphics computers as the computers that were used to make the movies “Toy Story” and “A Bug’s Life”. We have the ability to do that kind of quality animation right here at WNEP-TV 16 The News Station. Local companies that want the best looking animations for their commercials know that WNEP-TV 16 The News Station can provide exactly that.
